I was really able to understand the character and relate to her disease. Her emotions are all over the place, ranging from confusion to anger to helplessness. It’s beautifully, if distressingly, written, zecond great insight. But it gives you insight and helps you learn about the problems that can come with over-dieting and anorexia and the effects that it has on the people around you.

Great to read the Afterword by the author that was not there when I was a kid. I love this book. Stick up for Yourself Gershen Kaufman. This illness is an addiction. The afterward, in which the author recounts her own struggle with anorexia, is truly moving and is what makes this book worth reading. Anorexia has taken over her entire life and it looks like Leslie is heading towards death instead of happiness.
